COVID restrictions give Rockwall-Heath family’s annual teddy bear project a ‘noteworthy’ spin

ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX – Dec. 16, 2020 – For the past three years, the Weaver Boys Teddy Bear Project has collected hundreds of teddy bears for Texas Children’s Hospital during the holiday season. This year, however, due to COVID-19 restrictions at the hospital, teddy bears were not approved. So the Weaver boys teamed up with Small Town Strings of Rockwall, owned by strings instructor Tracy Davis, for The Weaver Boys Music Project 2020.

With the help of Small Town Strings, the project collected over 100 musical toys and instruments. The toys will be delivered to the hospital on Dec. 21.

The mission of this project is to bring joy to the patients and raise awareness of Pectus Excavatum, a condition in which the breastbone sinks into the chest. Two of the three Weaver boys were patients at Texas Children’s Hospital to correct severe cases of Pectus Excavatum. The Weaver boys are students at Rockwall-Heath High School. Patrick is a senior, Dillon is a sophomore, and Durrie is a freshman.
