Fate Mayor Joe Burger resigns, Mayor Pro Tem David Billings assumes duties

FATE, TX – Jan. 7, 2021 – At the Monday, January 4, 2021, Fate City Council Meeting, Mayor Joe Burger resigned his seat on the Council due to health concerns. Mayor Pro Tem David Billings will assume the duties of the Mayor until the May election.

Mayor Burger said, “I’d like to thank everyone for your kindness and support. I am resigning as Mayor to concentrate on my health and family. Currently, I am unable to give our City and citizens the Mayor they deserve. I truly loved serving the citizens of Fate over the last 7 years. I learned so much and created many lasting relationships that I will cherish. I’ve watched great things happen to our City and many more are coming. Again, thank you for all your support.”

On the City of Fate Facebook page they wrote, “Let us all lift Mayor Joe Burger in our prayers as he continues to heal. Thank you, Mayor Burger, for your leadership and deep affection for our community and its citizens.”
