ROCKWALL, TX – Jan. 14, 2021 – Jerry Welch announced today that he is running for Rockwall City Council Place 3, which is Kevin Fowler’s vacated seat. Council Member Fowler announced last week that he is running for Rockwall Mayor.
Welch is currently serving as the Vice Chair of the Rockwall Planning and Zoning Commission. Prior to P&Z Commissioner Welch was on the Architectural Review Board and prior to that he was on the Rockwall Building and Standards Committee. Welch also serves as Chair of the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee. This group worked for 18 months revising the cities Comprehensive Plan, laying out a vision as to what the city will look like in the year 2040.
Welch is a REALTOR® out of the Rockwall Ebby Halliday South Office. He has been a REALTOR® for 14 years and prior to that he was in telecommunication and spent his last 25+ years with Verizon in Plano as a National Account Manager.
Since moving to Rockwall, Welch has become very active going through both the Citizens Police and Fire Academies and is a graduate of the Leadership Rockwall Class of 2016. He is an Ambassador with the Rockwall Chamber and currently chairs the SSA (Senior Services Alliance), a group that specializes in working with seniors in the community. He is also member of the Noon Rotary and has served on the Board of the Rockwall Rainbow Room for the past 5 years.
He and his wife moved to Rockwall in 2013 to be closer to their daughter, April English and her family, Chris – husband and children Brady and Landry. Brady is 10 and Landry 8 (she said to let you know she will be 9 before the election). They attend Lake Pointe Church and are very active in their Life Group.
Welch said he looks forward to the opportunity to continue serving the City and citizens of Rockwall that he has come to love.
