Message from City of Rowlett: Unity, rule of law, public safety

ROWLETT, TX – Jan. 15, 2021 – The City of Rowlett believes in democracy. We believe in unity, and the rule of law. The violence that transpired in Washington, D.C. last week not only violated these tenets, but struck at the very core of the values we hold sacred. And we, as those who are called to serve, work every day to protect those fundamental truths.

“In Rowlett, I am very proud of the way our community peacefully works through any disagreements and differing opinions,” said Mayor Tammy Dana-Bashian. “Together, I know we will continue to make a difference by being kind, thoughtful and responsible citizens.”

While the images from the U.S. Capitol were extremely difficult and disheartening to watch, we can be proud of the resiliency of our governmental institutions as they faced this challenge to our democracy.

“As the United States of America prepares to inaugurate our next president, the Rowlett Police Department is aware of heightened national security concerns over the coming weeks and stands ready to ensure the safety of our community,” said Rowlett Police Chief Michael Godfrey. “It is our honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Rowlett.”
