Message from Rockwall County Judge David Sweet on COVID-19 Vaccine
ROCKWALL, TX – Jan. 5, 2020 – Rockwall County Judge David Sweet shared the following message today regarding the COVID-19 vaccine in Rockwall County:

“We do not have any control (we’re trying, we’re pushing) in the approval of providers to administer the vaccine or how many allocations they receive. Rockwall County has been exceedingly aggressive with our approach to encouraging local providers to complete the painstaking process of signing up to be vaccine providers. We have 53 groups of providers (doctor’s offices and pharmacies) that are at some point in the vaccine registration process. When those providers are approved in the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Provider Enrollment system, they will then accept a vaccine allocation through the Vaccine Allocation & Ordering System (VAOS). Please call your doctors to encourage them to be a vaccine provider.

Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management has been in contact with DSHS and all providers that have registered to ensure they have what they need to receive the vaccine. As of 1/5/21, Rockwall County has had 4 Healthcare facilities receive the vaccine, 2 of which have fully utilized their allotment. We have 6 pharmacies that have now received the vaccine as well. This includes both Kroger stores in Rockwall, 3 Walgreens (2 in Rockwall and one in Rowlett), and Tom Thumb in Rowlett. Through the Federal Pharmacy Partnership, residents and staff in 11 out of 13 long-term care facilities have the option to receive the vaccine. The County has partners that will fill the gap on the other two facilities.

To help disseminate all the information we have, we have begun construction on a new webpage on the County website that will provide information and updates to the public, as well as links to the DSHS vaccine map. Again, we are working diligently and swiftly on getting the vaccine to Rockwall County and its residents. Thank you.”
