ROCKWALL, TX – February 12, 2021 – Dr. Priscylla Bento has announced her run for Place 3 on the Rockwall City Council in the May 1, 2021 election.

“The community is the heart and soul of local government,” Dr. Bento said. “I look forward to being a fresh, new voice as a community leader ready to serve and represent the residents of Rockwall.”

Dr. Bento is a 2007 Rockwall High School graduate. The direct influence and support of her Rockwall community aided in providing almost $20,000 in scholarship to go towards her undergraduate studies the Fall of 2007.

Academically Dr. Bento has obtained a Bachelors in History & Political Science (Double Major), a Bachelors in French, a Masters in Public Administration, and a PhD in Urban Planning & Public Policy from the University of Texas at Arlington. As a PhD researcher she has been a crucial member of research teams contributing to the economic development and revitalization efforts of various locations throughout the DFW metroplex. Dr. Bento also speaks four languages that include English, Portuguese, Spanish, and conversational French.

As a young professional, Dr. Bento is established in public policy, community engagement, economic development and urban revitalization that spans a decade.

Professionally, Dr. Bento has time-honored experience and expertise in the Texas Public Information Act as a former open records coordinator, the Texas Election code as the former City Elections Manager for the 9th largest city in the United States where she managed a budget of over $2 million, and the Texas Property Code & Federal Fair Housing Act as a current Policy Manager with the Dallas Fair Housing Division.

Additionally, Dr. Bento was the Community Outreach Manager for the North Texas Regional Housing Assessment that covered 13 counties in the DFW metroplex and assessed housing under U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development requirements. She has worked in public policy both in the City of Dallas and on Capitol Hill as an Archer Fellow in the US House of Representatives. In her tenure she has assisted in writing House bills, city ordinances and resolutions, and government contracts.

As she runs for office, Dr. Bento’s community goals include Public Safety, Development, Public Services, Strengthening Neighborhoods, and Infrastructure. Her experience is well established and rooted in Public Policy and she understands the intricacies of government at all levels. Dr. Bento is excited to bring her expertise to her hometown with the opportunity of serving and representing the residents of Rockwall on City Council.
