Heath Hawks make big splash at Regionals

Heath Hawks swim away with three Automatic Qualifiers to state, and qualify 4 more swims through call-ups

ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX –

Laci Black in the 200 IM was behind by almost a full second at the 150 yard mark and chased down the leader to touch the wall 1st in a new 200 IM School Record of 2:01.88. Laci qualified automatically to State with the 200 IM, and added another state event by going 2nd in the 500 Freestyle (She set the new 500 Freestyle school record earlier in the morning).

Lucius Yu-Kisselbach led the 500 Freestyle for the boys the whole meet. Coming into the finals as the top seed, Lucius stayed ahead of the pack the entire race to touch 1st in a new school record of 4:30.61, beating the 2nd place swimmer by 8 seconds! Lucius will also swim the 200 Freestyle at state, being called up with his 1:40.20 time, also a new school record.

Grayson Tidwell came into the 100 Backstroke finals as the number 1 seed, dropping almost 2 seconds from his time coming into the meet. Grayson proved himself again in finals by dropping another 2 seconds, getting 1st in the event in a time of 49.80. This time was his best time in the event and broke the school record set by Grayson last year at the State Meet.

Rockwall-Heath also had Karly Merriott get called up in the 500 Freestyle and our Girls 400 Freestyle relay being the last qualified team to make it to the state meet. Our relay team was made up of Laci Black, Kylee Conrad, Josie Gillentine, and Karly Merriott.
