Rockwall County and Helping Hands partner to administer COVID-19 vaccines

ROCKWALL, TX – Feb. 4, 2021 — Rockwall County Helping Hands has partnered with Rockwall County to provide a COVID-19 vaccine clinic which began yesterday at the Rockwall County Library and runs through Friday, Feb. 5.  The library will be closed during this time due to the clinic, which is only open for those designated from the waitlist and by appointment.

Helping Hands received 975 Pfizer vaccines this week from the state, and will administer first round doses to those on the vaccine sign up list during the three day clinic (Feb. 3-5, 325 per day). This waitlist is the only way to receive a vaccine through Helping Hands. To join the waitlist to receive the Pfizer vaccine, visit https://www.blockitnow.com/rockwallwaitlist?fbclid=IwAR0NczD-qlLAPeyRZnUILfFa-hxqKo5nmh5ZeQC9hU-uWUDiHXxDVVpsGrc.

Currently there are about 8,000 people on the waitlist, so Helping Hands encourages folks to be patient and if offered the vaccine from another source take it.

Rockwall County Judge David Sweet said the county is prepared to receive increased allocations of vaccine, but how quickly it receives them remains unknown. He emphasized those who qualify for the first round of vaccination per the Department of State Health Services Phase 1A and 1B definitions and who wish to be administered the vaccine should join the waitlist at the link above. The link is also available on the Rockwall County website’s COVID-19 Vaccine page at https://www.rockwallcountytexas.com/1065/COVID-19-Vaccine-in-Rockwall-County.

“Those who sign up on that list can be reassured that as allocations increase, the County and Helping Hands will utilize that list for any other mass vaccination operations in the county,” Sweet said. “There are no residency restrictions to get access to a vaccine.”

Sweet extended his gratitude on behalf of the county to Helping Hands and its hundreds of volunteers for their partnership in the vaccine administration process.

“Helping Hands has been an outstanding partner and has done an excellent job in the planning aspect and in execution,” he said.
