Sherry Packer announces run for Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees, Place 1

ROCKWALL, TX – February 11, 2021 – Sherry Packer is announcing her run for Place 1 on the Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees in the upcoming May election.

“For more than 25 years, I have worked as an educator in Rockwall ISD, had children in Rockwall schools, and/or served in a volunteer capacity. The teachers in this district prepared my children for successful college experiences and beyond, and I would be honored to serve in such a tremendous institution,” Sherry said. “As a member of the RISD Board of Trustees, I will work to continue the tradition of excellence for all students and families.”

Sherry retired as a principal from RISD in 2017. She has a total of 34 years of experience in education, serving in various roles including: high school math teacher, high school volleyball and basketball coach, independent math consultant for Region X Education Service Center, Assistant Principal, Middle School Summer School Principal, Quest Academy Principal, and Rochell Elementary Principal.

Her volunteer experiences include room mom, PTA member, PTA President, and Academic Booster Club President. She will bring a broad and balanced perspective to the school board with experience as a parent, volunteer, teacher, and principal.

Sherry is currently serving as president for the Rockwall County chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.  She holds a doctorate in Curriculum and Supervision.  Sherry currently has one grandson attending school in RISD.

Sherry lives in McClendon-Chisholm with her husband of 38 years. She has two grown children with their own families. One of her children, Alicia Rojas lives in Rockwall with her husband and two children while her other daughter Laura Bauer, lives in Bryan-College Station with her husband and three children.  Sherry’s favorite hobby is spending time with her grandchildren.
