UPDATE from Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management for those awaiting second COVID-19 vaccine

ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX – February 22, 2021 – From the Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management:

If you are awaiting a 2nd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine:
Because of the winter weather last week, COVID-19 vaccine was not shipped by the CDC. The state has informed healthcare providers to expect last week’s vaccine shipment to arrive sometime this week. Healthcare providers in Rockwall County are expecting to receive first and second doses of vaccine this week.

When Rockwall Fire Department and Helping Hands receive second doses, they will send you information about scheduling your second dose. Please monitor your emails and text messages for information from these healthcare providers when it is time to schedule.

This delay will not reduce the efficacy of the vaccine. The CDC’s standing orders advise both vaccines second dose may be administered up to six weeks after the first dose is received.
