ROCKWALL, TX – March 3, 2021 – Stevenson Elementary 6th Grade SAGE students Maddie Kern and Stevana Kerns recently collected more than 200 food items for a school project to donate to children in the hospital.
There were several steps they had to follow to complete their project. They first had to seek approval from Mr. Pitcher to collect items from students. They also had to make sure to follow COVID-19 restrictions by only collecting unopened items and quarantining them for the required time. They further researched and contacted Children’s Health to understand their requirements for donations as well.
Once the collection period was over, there were more than 200 items donated and the girls sorted them into age groups. Stevana made the trip to the hospital to donate the items where they were met with grateful recipients.
