Three Rockwall-Heath cheerleaders make college cheer teams

ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX (May 26, 2021) The Rockwall-Heath High School Varsity Cheer Team again won the NCA National Championship this year, and this fall, three graduates from the squad will continue cheering on the sidelines for universities.

Congratulations to Caroline Bloom, Sydney Hail and Rachel Ross who made the cheer squads at Baylor University, Stephen F. Austin University and the University of Texas at Austin, respectively. All three ladies are leaving quite a legacy having cheered all six years in the RISD school district.





Caroline Bloom

Caroline Bloom is cheering at Baylor University in the fall of 2021.  Caroline has cheered since 7th grade at Cain Middle school and has loved her time supporting Rockwall ISD. Caroline is currently Varsity Head cheerleader, student council officer and member of National Honor Society.  She was named this year’s Cheer sweetheart, 6A All-State and 6A All-Star cheerleader.  Caroline has led the Heath Hawk cheer team as a varsity instructor, Freshman, JV and Varsity Head cheerleader.  She has been awarded Miss 100%, best side-base and best tumbler. Caroline is a four-time NCA All-American, three-time NCA champion, and has been a level 6 competitive cheerleader at Cheer Athletics where she was named an ALLSTAR icon.

Caroline not only has a love for cheer but also for helping her community. She is a volunteer at her church, a member of National Charity League and the Heath High School Honor Council. Caroline started the Hawks Care food pantry at Heath High School. She was awarded the Rising Lone Star by Congressman John Ratcliffe for her work to implement and maintain the food pantry.

Caroline is majoring in psychology and plans to become a licensed therapist.  She is honored and excited to be cheering for the Baylor Bears, Sic ‘Em!



Sydney Hail


Sydney Hail will be cheering on the 16-time National Champion coed cheerleading team at Stephen F. Austin University as a Level 6 flyer. She was recently selected to be an SFA cheerleader through a very tough tryout process.

Sydney has also cheered since 7th grade at Cain Middle school. During her six years of school cheer, she has been awarded with best flyer, most community service hours, and most spirited. Hail is a three-time All American and six-time National Champion. She had cheered competitively with United Elite since 1st grade, where she was also was ranked third in the nation as an individual cheer competitor.

Sydney loved being a part of the Gene Burton Culinary program where her skills team won Regional Champions and had advanced to the State competition. Sydney also served as the Historian for Business Professionals of America. She is a founder and member of the Rockwall County Helping Hands Teen Board where she is a five-time Presidential Service Award recipient for her service.  Sydney is a member of National Charity League Pearl where she served as Parliamentarian and was awarded Most Service Hours.

“It has always been my dream to cheer at the collegiate level and to do so on such a Championship competitive team at SFA is an absolute honor.  Axe ‘em Jacks!” Sydney said.

She plans on majoring in pre-veterinary with an intent to enter a veterinary program.



Rachel Ross

Rachel Ross has been selected to cheer on the coed squad for the University of Texas at Austin. During her four years of cheer at Rockwall Heath High School she has been awarded highest GPA all four years, best attitude, best flyer, best jumps, miss 100% and cheerleader of the year. Rachel was the head JV cheerleader her sophomore year and has been a varsity instructor for the past two years. She has received the 6A All-State, Legacy All-Star and Academic All-State awards for cheerleading. She is a two time All-American and two time NCA National champion. Rachel will be graduating in the top 3% of her class.

Rachel has been very involved with the community through National Charity League and her work as a small group leader at Lakepointe Church. She has been a member of the Varsity orchestra, NHS, Mu Alpha Theta and FCA. She is looking forward to getting involved at the University of Texas through cheer and Greek life.

Rachel said, “I had not planned to cheer in college but decided to try a new adventure with coed cheer and I absolutely love it! I am so excited to cheer with the coed squad at the University of Texas! Hook ‘Em Horns!”
