Dedicated sponsors, supporters credited for event’s success
ROCKWALL, TX (July 5, 2021) One hundred sixty nine participants from Germany, Costa Rica, Washington, Arizona, Illinois, Missouri, and right here in Texas joined Empower 7‘s inaugural 5K Race and 1-Mile Fun Run on June 26th – either in person or virtually – to help support the Rockwall-based nonprofit’s mission to empower the lives of vulnerable, at-risk youth in North Texas.
“Our 1st Annual 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run was a huge success, thanks to the support from our sponsors and the dedication of our Event Chair, Vida Valk, and the entire Empower7 team,” said Melanie Cobb, Empower 7’s President and Founder. “Everyone pulled together to make our first 5K one to always remember. We are looking forward to our next 5K in 2022.”
Proceeds from the event, which was held at Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium, will support The Empower7 Ranch building campaign and programs for at-risk teens.
All participants that finished the 5K, 1 Mile or Virtual Race received a finisher medal. Empower 7 gave out 52 trophies to the winners of the 5K for overall male/female, masters male/female, and male/female for 1st/2nd/3rd place for age groups.

-
- Katie Armstrong of Dallas won Top Female Finisher – Overall

Empower 7’s Mission
Founded in 2018, Empower 7 is a Christian, faith-based organization created for the sole purpose of empowering the lives of vulnerable, at-risk youth in North Texas. Critical to the Empower 7 vision and mission, The Empower 7 Ranch will provide a safe, serene home for youth whose need for care and treatment cannot be met safely and effectively by their families or in a traditional foster family setting. The goal for The Ranch is to provide residential, educational and community services to ensure youth are prepared for adulthood, form healthy connections with society, and know God’s love and grace. While faithfully planning for The Ranch, Empower 7 is working to close the gaps that prevent youth from thriving through their Blessings & Growth Programs, which addresses the immediate or emergency needs of vulnerable, at-risk youth while providing them with learning experiences to shape their future.
