Republican Dana K Macalik announces candidacy for Rockwall County Commissioner

ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX (July 8, 2021) Rockwall City Council Member Dana Macalik announced her candidacy in the Republican Primary for Rockwall County Commissioner, Precinct 2.  Current County Commissioner Lee Gilbert recently announced he will not seek re-election.

“Commissioner Lee Gilbert has been a model for common-sense conservative leadership and has been a true asset for our community,”  Dana Macalik said. “As we grow, we must ensure our traditional Rockwall County values are represented on the commissioner’s court.”

Macalik’s family has been in Rockwall County for five generations.  She has been involved in several initiatives promoting economic development and ensuring smart growth that preserves our way of life.  Macalik has served as CEO for Keller Williams Realty Rockwall, CEO of the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce, and as a member of the Rockwall City Council.

“I am a business person, not a career politician, and I look forward to putting my business experience to work for Rockwall County, just as I have for the City of Rockwall,” Macalik said.

While serving on the Rockwall City Council, Macalik earned a reputation for promoting low taxes, transparency, and effective communication.  Macalik could always be counted on to stand up for our conservative values.

“As County Commissioner, my focus will be on creating efficient and effective solutions to the challenges facing our county,”  Macalik said.  “It will take strong, conservative leadership to protect our way of life.  My experience in business and serving the community has prepared me for the task at hand.”

Macalik raised her family in Rockwall, with one son graduating from Rockwall High School and two sons from Rockwall-Heath High School.  She has been active in the community, serving in leadership roles on several boards and commissions; including the Texas Association of Business, Rockwall Rotary Club, Star Transit, Boys and Girls of Rockwall County, and the Rockwall County American Cancer Society. She and her husband, Jeff, have four children and two grandchildren.

Macalik received her B.A. in Marketing from Sam Houston State University and graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a professional development degree in Organizational Management.  She is a 2013 graduate of Leadership Rockwall.

Macalik is a member of the First Baptist Church of Rockwall, Immediate Past President of Rockwall Noon Rotary Club and Rockwall County Republican Women.
