ROWLETT, TX (August 12, 2021) Yesterday, Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins issued an order mandating that all child care centers, public schools, and businesses/commercial entities operating in Dallas County develop a health and safety policy within three days that, at a minimum, requires universal indoor masking for all teachers, students, employees, and visitors. This order went into effect at 11:59pm last night (Wednesday, August 11, 2021).
See a copy of the order below or you can see it here.
In response to Judge Jenkins’ order, the Texas Attorney General and the Governor filed a petition in the 5th Court of Appeals to strike down Jenkins’ order. There has not been a response from the Court. You can read more about the petition here.
The City of Rowlett has posted that the Rowlett City Council will discuss this order and its implications for Rowlett citizens and businesses, including those Rowlett businesses located in Rockwall County, on Tuesday, August 17 at their regular meeting.
As we hear more from the City, County and State we will share updated information.
