Dallas YMCA Key Leaders Luncheon: Bob Bowlsby, Big 12 Commissioner, featured keynote speaker

The Catalyst Advancing Equity Award will be presented in recognition of partnership with the Dallas Y’s Catalyst Initiative

DALLAS (September 14, 2021) – The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas announced today it will host the 2021 YMCA Key Leaders Luncheon, presented by Delta Airlines, on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 11:30am at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dallas with both in-person and online access. The event is designed to connect key community and business leaders with timely local issues that have regional impact while also sharing accomplishments and priorities of the Dallas YMCA. After being held virtually last year due to the pandemic, this year’s event will be a hybrid event with both in-person attendance with safety protocols in place and virtual only attendance available.  Masks will be required to enter the in-person event.

The 2021 Key Leaders Luncheon will feature Bob Bowlsby, the Commissioner of the Big 12 Conference as the Keynote Speaker. Bob has a long history with the YMCA, growing up at the Y in Cedar Falls Iowa, and by his own admission, was there every day. Later, as an adult, he served on the Board of Directors and eventually became Chair of the Board.

“The YMCA’s mission is about community, and we’re excited to be able to gather together to share how the Y served the community through the pandemic and continuing our focus on youth development initiatives including eliminating childhood drowning,” said Curt Hazelbaker, President and CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas

“I’m also especially grateful to Bob Bowlsby for joining us as this year’s keynote speaker to share his Y story and more about his impactful career,” continued Hazelbaker.

For the first time this year, the Dallas YMCA will present the Catalyst Advancing Equity Award. This annual award will recognize one individual and one organization that has helped the Y serve the community through advancing the Dallas YMCA’s Catalyst Initiative. Started in March 2020 when COVID-19 closed the doors to our traditional membership, the Catalyst Initiative re-focused staff and volunteers to help those impacted by the pandemic. Since then, the Catalyst Initiative has continued to help people marginalized by the negative impacts of COVID-19 as well as people impacted by winter storms with Winter Warming Centers and childcare for those that needed it.

Sponsors of this year’s event include Delta Airlines as the presenting sponsor and D CEO as the media sponsor. Other sponsors include Whitley Penn, Marsh McLennan Agency, Haynes Boone, Jill and Brent Magnuson and Jody & Sandra Zorn.
