ROWLETT, TX (Sept. 21, 2021) The slogan on their company t-shirt reads “Not Your Average Roofer” – and yesterday in Rowlett, Doc’s Roofing lived up to this creed by donating and installing a free roof on the home of a military veteran in need.
Doc’s Roofing of Rockwall is owned and operated by Michael “Doc” Rannigan, a former combat medic in the Navy who completed several tours following 9/11. As a member of Rockwall Veterans Business Alliance and other related organizations, Doc feels strongly about veterans’ rights and care. When he learned that fellow veteran James Norman had fallen upon hard times, he wanted to help out.
“I decided to take a leap of faith and go ahead and donate this roof to this veteran,” said Doc, “because that’s what we do – veterans helping veterans.”
James served in Desert Storm, and was a sailor aboard the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier. He and his wife were impacted financially when the pandemic hit in 2020, and they found themselves struggling to make ends meet while needing to replace the roof on their Rowlett home.
The approximate value of the installation was about $18,000, all of which was provided free from Doc’s Roofing.
