Rockwall-Heath Wind Ensemble, JV Orchestra and Cain MS Symphonic Band win national awards

ROCKWALL, TX (Oct. 5, 2021) Cain Middle School Symphonic Band, under the direction of Preston Prior, has been named a Winner of the 2021 Citation of Excellence National Wind Band Honors competition.  This is the highest honor in this division.  Only four bands earned this distinction across the country. 

Rockwall-Heath High School Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Chris Loyd, Rockwall-Heath JV Orchestra, under the direction of Zoe Rice, and Cain MS Honor Band, under the direction of Trevor Ousey,  all earned the Commended award in the The Foundation for Music Education National 2021 Competition in their respective divisions.  Over 300 schools from around the country competed in this competition. After National winners, the next 25% of top entrants in the competition are named commended winners.

The Mark of Excellence awards recognize outstanding achievement in performance by high school and middle school bands, choirs and orchestras from across the United States.
