Candidate says he has 150 million reasons why he is running
ROCKWALL, TX (Nov. 1, 2021) John Stacy, former City Councilor in Fate, TX, formally announces his candidacy for Rockwall County Commissioner, Precinct Four in the March 2022 Republican primary. Stacy, a 6th generation Texan, holds a B.S. degree from TCU, and is the successful owner of John Stacy Insurance Services in Fate. He and his wife of 19 years, Amie, have three children and attend Ridgeview Church, where Amie is the Children’s Ministry Director, and John is the Scoutmaster for Troop 163.
Stacy promises accountability and transparency in County government and says that unlike the incumbent Commissioner, who was appointed and not elected, pledges to serve the people of Precinct Four and not the Judge and the Court.
Stacy believes that the current County Commission does not practice sensible, long-term, strategic planning and points to several recent decisions that illustrate his point: the construction plans for the new County Jail don’t include juvenile holding cells, thus forcing Rockwall County to continue to rely on Collin County for the processing of juvenile offenders; and the new County Courthouse failed to provide more usable space because Commissioners chose to build a giant rotunda, instead.
But what raise’s Stacy’s ire the most is the Trip 21 initiative on this November’s ballot, which, if passed, would authorize a $150 million bond issue for the construction and improvement of roads throughout the County. According to Stacy, the money would be allocated by the Rockwall County Road Consortium, which is partly made up of unelected bureaucrats with absolutely no accountability on exactly how it would subsequently be spent, unless there is someone on the Commission who will exercise the proper oversight. “If the bond issue passes, and I’m elected, that will be me, even if it makes me a thorn in the side of unelected bureaucrats.”
“This bond package has no priority list of projects,” he states. “Therefore we have no idea what will be built and what will not be built. Without good leadership in the Court this could turn into a $150 million slush fund with none of the Precinct 4 projects being built. With this bond it will take someone working full time for the needs of Precinct 4 to make sure this money will be spent properly on the roads this Precinct desperately needs. This is why we need a commissioner that is elected by the Precinct and not appointed unilaterally by the Judge”
“So, I have 150 million reasons why I’m running for County Commissioner,” Stacy says in conclusion. “The current situation is driving me up a wall, and I hope it will drive the voters of Precinct Four to the polls, next March.”
