ROYSE CITY, TX (Jan. 12, 2022) On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, Tanner Dietz was sworn in as Fire Chief for the City of Royse City. Chief Dietz has been with the department since 2004. Since that time, Chief Dietz has assumed a variety of roles of increasing responsibility and has acquired a very broad base of educational and practical experience. Chief Dietz assumed the role of Fire Marshal in 2017 and assumed the role of Assistant Fire Chief in 2020.
“Tanner has earned this opportunity through hard work and determination. He has been an integral part of the formation of our paid fire department and has worked tirelessly to promote Royse City. He is a tremendous representative of our community and will prove to be an asset for years to come,” said Mayor Clay Ellis.
Rockwall County Commissioner Janet Nichol added, “I am so proud of Tanner. He has dedicated his adult life to public service and has served our community so well. Royse City is a special place. I have no doubt that Tanner will continue the spirit of excellence that has always come from our fire department and will work tirelessly to enhance its capabilities and levels of service.”
Additionally, Russell Thomas was sworn in as Battalion Chief for the department. Chief Thomas has been with the department since 2018 and was promoted to Captain in 2019.
City Manager Carl Alsabrook stated, “Both Chief Dietz and Chief Thomas have distinguished themselves through hard work, dedication to the department, and a collaborative vision for the department as it continues to grow. Both act in a tenacious fashion towards a unified goal – to continue to build and fortify fire service for the Royse City community. They are to be commended for their dedication and hard work.”
