Trace Johannesen announces final Rockwall City Council term

ROCKWALL, TX (Jan. 24, 2022) Current Rockwall City Councilmember Trace Johannesen announces he has filed to run for re-election this spring. This will be his third and final term.

“It has been a distinct honor to continue serving our wonderful community in my capacity on City Council. I’m proud to serve alongside so many smart and selfless leaders. I’m especially proud of our entire city staff.  They have a mostly thankless job in trying – sometimes successfully – to keep me in line. City Staff provides excellent customer service and public safety, and I am so glad to live in such an outstanding city.

“In my past two terms, I hope I have demonstrated a high degree of transparency in the process and in rationale. I made it a point to ensure my thought process on any zoning case or controversial issue was on full display. While some may not have liked some of my votes, no one will ever have to question my thinking, as we do it out loud in the open.”

Elected to City Council in 2018, Johannesen also currently serves as 2nd Vice Commander for your local Terry Fisher American Legion Post 117, a founding member of the Chamber’s Rockwall Veterans Business Alliance (RVBA), a founding member of 100 Business Leaders of Rockwall County, and member of Rockwall County Republican Men’s Club. He is a former member of the city’s Architectural Review Board, Stingerette prop dads and RHS Walk the Line Choir Booster Club.

Following the terrorist attacks in September 2001, he left his job to enlist as a fourth-generation US Marine. He attained the rank of Sergeant in the infantry and returned a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom with five years total active duty. He graduated from Texas A&M University as a member of the Corps of Cadets and the Aggie Band.

Today, Johannesen is a Senior Client Partner at Toptal, enabling enterprise clients to solve their toughest business problems with the world’s top talent. He lives in Rockwall with his wonderful wife Amy – a former Rockwall County small-business owner, now business coach – and children Kassidy, Joshua, Cash, Roman and Caroline.

His likes include purpose-driven people and cultures, 311, Red Dirt music, Real Texas Wine, cooking, community service, term limits (see first paragraph) and Texas A&M. Dislikes include selfish motives, rude behavior in a man (he won’t tolerate it), bro country, slow drivers in the left lane, the Oxford Comma and taking himself too seriously.
