Lee Harvey announces run for Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees, Place 4

ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX (March 3, 2022) As a dad and husband, I know great communities don’t just happen. Exceptional communities require parents, teachers, and everyone to work together in shaping, leading, and contributing to our city.

Local politics is no exception. I make the time to stay in touch with our local leaders and participate in school board meetings regularly as they impact all of us the most.

It’s no secret that on March 16, 2020, everything changed. Overnight our elected officials and school boards began making major decisions that impacted all our lives. Mandates, remote learning and so many other things put major burdens on the parents and children of Rockwall ISD.

To compound the issue, taxpayers faced a bond election from the school board for HALF A billion dollars in new school spending. The voters showed up, and for the first time in a long time pushed back strongly. The bond request was almost defeated, but in the end, narrowly gained adoption by a margin of 2.3%.

Both situations made many parents and neighbors realize that we had no seat at the table. No say in how our schools made decisions or spent money. It’s because of this and more that I entered the race for RISD place 4.

I am running as an engaged father. My goal is to help provide input from those parent, taxpayers and citizens who currently feel shut out.

I would be honored to have your support and vote. As an influencer and strong advocate, I will do everything in my power to represent the parents and taxpayers who have been asked to pay all the bills but lack any ability to provide input on the directions our schools take.
