ROCKWALL, TX (March 14, 2022) The Rockwall County Republican Men’s Club hosted Ukraine native and U.S. Army combat veteran, Ivan Danchak, at its monthly meeting on Saturday, March 12 at The Center at City Place in Rockwall.
Ivan was born in Husiatyn in western Ukraine in 1983. He completed a degree in International Relations from Ternopil Academy of National Economy before immigrating to the United States in 2004 at the age of twenty. After moving to the U.S., Ivan enlisted in the U.S. Army as an infantryman, and deployed to Al Asad, Iraq with the 3rd Infantry Division in 2010-11.
Ivan became an American citizen in 2010 and now resides in Milford, Pennsylvania, where he works in the trucking industry. He is married and has three daughters.
Ivan maintains an extensive network of family and friends in Ukraine and has been working tirelessly since the beginning of the invasion to organize relief assistance and other support for the people of Ukraine. Ivan provided the Club with an update on the latest developments in Ukraine with information gleaned from his network of contacts within the country. He also provided background regarding the historical relationship between Ukraine and Russia, and helped contextualize the scope and scale of the invasion.
Ivan was joined on stage by Josh Parker, Head of Business Development for the Center for Brain Health in Dallas, and the Club’s president, Justin Lee, who moderated the discussion. Sen. Bob Hall concluded the meeting with a special benediction for the people of Ukraine.
