Culinary students cook up wins in ProStart Competition

ROCKWALL, TX (April 15, 2022) Culinary students from the Dr. Gene Burton College & Career Academy recently competed at the Texas ProStart Competition.

Danielle Iadanza of Rockwall High School placed first in the salsa competition, creating a roasted tomatillo salsa Verde.  

Eliza Lackey (RHS), Clay Castenada (RHS), Natilee Hernandez (RHHS), Eileen Ramirez (RHHS), and Audrey Duvall (RHS) competed in the Culinary competition and placed 2nd out of 29 teams, earning multiple scholarships totaling $5,000 scholarship EACH.  

Courtney Iadanza (RHS) participated in the cake competition, Jacqueline Lee (RHHS) made a pumpkin-chocolate brioche bread for the bread baking competition and Cori Williams (RHS) and Mason Bauer competed in the burger and shake challenge.
