Rockwall Music Teachers Association opens application window for Glynda King Music Education Scholarship

ROCKWALL, TX (May 23, 2022) The Rockwall Music Teachers Association is now accepting applications for the Glynda King Music Education Scholarship.

Scholarships will be awarded to deserving students who demonstrate excellence and accomplishment in their piano studies, high academic achievement, and ongoing service within their church and Rockwall community. Scholarships are awarded in denominations from $25-$500. There is no age requirement to apply for a scholarship.

Glynda King, March 14, 1948 – August 6, 2021.

Glynda King’s family established the scholarship with the RMTA to honor Glynda’s memory and to continue her legacy of music education. Glynda passed away in August 2021, following a hard-fought battle with cancer. As a music teacher, Glynda positively impacted the lives of many students. She was a gifted accompanist who shared her talents throughout the Rockwall community and in weekly services at Lakepointe Church. She was an active member of Bible Study Fellowship International and the RMTA.

Scholarship applications will be accepted through June 23, 2022. Students may submit an application here, or request a paper application to be printed and mailed by emailing . Applicants must include three letters of recommendation from 1) their minister; 2) a teacher (private music teacher of school teacher/administrator); and 2) personal character letter.

RMTA is an organization of local music teachers who strive to promote high standards of music education and performance of both teachers and students. They invite local music teachers to get involved with their group of teachers and student activities. RMTA holds festivals, performance contests, recitals, state theory exams, and scholarship opportunities for students to participate in.

RMTA 2021-2022 officers are Trissi Davis, President; Kelle Collins, Vice President; Clarice Elliott, Secretary; and Emily Norris, Treasurer.
