Rockwall Reads receives grant from Atmos Energy for book giveaway events

ROCKWALL, TX (May 19, 2022) Rockwall ISD Library Media Specialists recently received a grant from Atmos Energy through their Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities program that will help fund their summer book distribution program, Rockwall Reads.

The grant will allow the librarians to provide new, high interest books for students in our community this summer who may not have access to the public library or who may have limited access to books at home.

This will be the 7th summer that the RISD Librarians have hosted book giveaway events.

This summer, they will be working with the elementary and secondary summer school sites as well as the summer lunch program at Dobbs Elementary School to distribute books.

Community members are welcome to join Thursday, June 9 in the Dobbs cafeteria from noon-1 p.m. to enjoy lunch and a free book(more dates may be added).

Books will be distributed to summer school students June 9 at Dobbs and June 16 at Utley Middle School.

Thank you to Atmos Energy, the Rockwall Education Foundation and the Utley NJHS who hosted a book drive to help provide books as well.
