‘What do you mean it burned?’: Rockwall County Genealogical Society to meet May 5

ROCKWALL, TX (May 3, 2022) The Rockwall County Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 5 in the Genealogy Room of the Rockwall County Library, 1215 E. Yellow Jacket Lane.

For May’s meeting, RCGS will be joined by professional speaker John Sellers, with his presentation topic “What Do You Mean It Burned?” One of a genealogist’s worst fears is to learn about the loss of public records. This lecture shows how to go beyond the disaster; various myths and fallacies are addressed, methodology techniques are presented, and supplemental records outside the courthouse are analyzed.

RCGS meetings are held the first Thursday of the month at 6 p.m., and are open to the public. They meet 11 months of the year with a program presentation and an update on the various genealogy society happenings among RCGS members and local and national genealogy societies.
