Partial lane closure on I-30 frontage road at Horizon/Village Dr. for flagpole project

ROCKWALL, TX (Sept. 9, 2022) On Monday, September 12, 2022 at 9 p.m., the north lane of the I-30 frontage road at Village Drive will be shut down for unloading materials and equipment to begin the construction of a 190’ flagpole on the site between I-30 and Laguna Drive which will display a 50×80 foot American flag.

The City’s contractor will offload equipment beginning at 9 p.m. and will require approximately 3 hours to complete. One lane will remain open for motorists, and the city street department will work traffic control during this time. Construction of the foundation and flagpole will begin Tuesday and require 3-5 days to complete. The pole is tentatively scheduled to go vertical by Friday, September 16, based on the progress earlier in the week. The City will post updates to social media should future road closures be needed in order to complete the project.

Once the pole is installed, electrical and lighting will then be completed, site cleaned and repaired, and then the flag will be raised, which will serve as an entry point to the City of Rockwall.
