DALLAS, TX (Sept. 8, 2022) The State Fair of Texas is proud to announce that seven brand-new food concessionaires will share their culinary craft at the 2022 State Fair of Texas. Eat, drink, and be merry – if anyone understands that motto, it’s the State Fair of Texas. The Fair prides itself on its hand-picked selection of vendors and concessionaires who bring in droves of fairgoers each year and keep them coming back for more exceptional eats. Following the 2022 “Treats of Texas” theme, this year’s exposition will highlight the iconic fair foods that define our annual celebration of Texas culture, including the following new concessionaires.
Let’s take a look at the new concessionaires who will be joining us for the 2022 State Fair of Texas:
2022 NEW STATE FAIR OF TEXAS CONCESSIONAIRES
CHIMICHURRI & MILAGRO TACO
You get the best of both worlds from award-winning chef Jesus Carmona’s new stand, which will be serving dishes from his two Dallas restaurants, Chimichurri and Milagro Taco Cantina. Carmona has worked in the food industry for more than 30 years. In 2018, he received a Rising Star Chefs award from CultureMap’s Tastemaker Awards and appeared on Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” with Guy Fieri. The concessionaire will be selling two types of empanadas, a campeona taco, and a burrito texano. Enjoy these entrees with their mole fries, drizzled with mole sauce, crema fresca, and cotija cheese.
DI-LICIOUS CANDIES PICKLES FACTORY
Known as the “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” of pickles, Di-Licious Candies Pickles Factory offers a unique pickle experience. The family-owned and operated business is the “first original candy pickle factory in the entire world” and has more than 250 flavors of candy pickles. Check out their signature chamoy candy pickle along with candy pickles in a cup, Rainbow Brite candy pickle sundae, and cotton candy pickle roll crunch.
DRIZZLE CHEESECAKES, INC
This concessionaire takes the cake – cheesecake to be specific. Olympic athlete Stephen El Gidi and his partner Walid founded Drizzle Cheesecakes in 2018. Their business has made appearances across North America from southwestern Ontario to our neighbors at Six Flags Over Texas’ Holiday in the Park. Drizzle’s New York-style cheesecake on a stick is dipped in magic-shell Belgian chocolate and rolled in a variety of toppings including crushed Oreos, red velvet cake, strawberry crumble, and more. Their stand will feature specialty flavors developed just for the State Fair of Texas including pumpkin spice cheesecake.
ENJOY FOODS
We know you will enjoy this business’s delicious goods. Founded in 2012, Enjoy Foods began as a gourmet kitchen store in Rockwall, Texas. Owners Dwaina Morris and her husband love attending the Fair and are excited to finally have a stand of their own. Enjoy Foods will offer fairgoers loaded queso fries, loaded queso nachos, fried chicken tacos, root beer floats, infused pickles, brownie sundaes, daiquiris, and fried jalapeños. Try pairing their loaded queso fries with the adult-infused pickle, a flavor explosion of queso blanco, bacon, sour cream, pico de gallo, and jalapeños plus a jumbo Texas pickle infused with daiquiri mix.
ONCE UPON A CONE
Keep your eyes peeled this year for a Big Tex-sized ice cream cone – there you’ll find the Once Upon a Cone stand! These concessionaires have been soft-serving delicious ice cream treats all over Texas for the past 12 years. Through this business they have traveled throughout the state, making new friends and happy memories along the way. Once Upon a Cone sells premium vanilla, chocolate, and swirled soft-serve ice cream along with specialty sundaes, shakes, floats, and malts. Their beloved dipped cones are available in chocolate, cherry, butterscotch, and birthday cake flavors.
PALMER’S HOT CHICKEN DALLAS, LLC
This concessionaire turns up the heat with their iconic Nashville Hot Chicken. Dallas native Palmer Fortune and his partner and chef, Mills Garwood, have already established themselves as spicy chicken connoisseurs with their successful and award-winning Porch restaurants in St. Simon’s Island, Georgia, and Palmer’s Hot Chicken in Dallas. All of their chicken comes in varying heat levels: Nashville Hot (burns), Novice Heat (tingles), and if you are looking for no spice, you can choose No Heat. Their stand at the Fair will offer the Motherclucker sandwich, which is a fried chicken sandwich with homemade pimento cheese and pickles, jumbo tenders, homemade banana pudding, and tots (plain or smothered in pimento cheese queso). Beat the heat with their Frosé wine slushy made with pureed strawberries, hibiscus, and a dash of lime.
TEXAPOLITAN PIZZA
Central Texas barbecue meets Naples, Italy in this unexpected fusion. Stephan Nedwetzky of Pit Commander Barbecue decided to use leftover barbecue as toppings on his favorite type of pizza, Neapolitan, and the Texapolitan Pizza was born. Each pizza is made from 00 flour imported from Italy and only needs 90 seconds in the 900-1,000-degree stone oven to reach thin, crispy perfection. Texapolitan Pizza will offer four different personal-sized pizza pies during the Fair: margherita, pepperoni, cheese, and smoked pork belly burnt ends. Their featured smoked pork belly burnt ends pizza consists of red sauce, mozzarella, smoked pork belly burnt ends, fresh jalapeños, cotija cheese, and Pit Commander Barbecue Sweet Heat BBQ sauce.
