Ribbon cutting ceremony Nov. 12 for Joe Burger Park in Fate

FATE, TX (October 21, 2022) – The official ribbon cutting ceremony for Joe Burger Park has been scheduled for Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 10:00 AM. For the past few years, citizens and visitors have patiently watched the development of this park and excitedly waited for its completion.

Joe Burger Park is located at 1251 E. Greenbriar Road, at the corner of Blackland Road and Greenbriar Road, next to Harry H. Herndon Elementary School. A project that resulted from a park bond that passed in November 2020, the park includes an extensive playground structure, public restrooms, and basketball and tennis/pickleball courts. Moreover, the basketball and tennis/pickleball courts were added to the park thanks to a local park grant awarded by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. Construction is on schedule to be completed at the end of October.

The new park’s namesake, Joe Burger, served as Mayor of Fate for nearly two years and as a Fate City Council member for six years. During his time assisting the citizens of Fate, he also acted as the President of the city’s Municipal Development District. Mayor Burger diligently served his family, friends, and community. He showed genuine empathy and love to those he served. The memory of his legacy will continue as citizens of Fate gather with their families and enjoy the beauty and amenities of Joe Burger Park.

Submitted press release by Spenser Foster, Assistant to the City Manager, City of Fate.
