ROCKWALL, TX (Nov. 17, 2022) – The City of Fate’s annual holiday celebration, the Christmas Tree Lighting, is set for Friday, December 2, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fate City Hall, 1900 CD Boren Parkway.
This year, the Christmas Tree Lighting will feature activities, crafts, and treats for attendees, performances by Royse City and Rockwall ISD students, and a limited number of free meals from In-N-Out Burger®. Activities will include bounce houses and slides, carnival style rides, pictures with Santa, story time with Mrs. Claus, Christmas crafts, and trips around City Hall on the Polar Express. Additionally, individuals can enjoy hot cocoa, cookies, candy canes, and s’mores as they warm up by the yule log fires.
As part of the event, the city is also partnering with local Girl Scout and Cub Scout groups to run a canned food drive. Collection boxes are located in the lobby at Fate City Hall. Anyone interested in participating in the drive can drop off food items during business hours anytime between now and December 2. All donated food items will be given to Rockwall County Helping Hands for further distribution to those in need.
Bike parking for the event is available in the front parking lot of City Hall. Vehicle parking is available at Miss May Vernon Elementary and Summers Middle School. Visitors can also utilize on-street parking along the outside lanes of CD Boren Parkway.
For the sixth consecutive year, the city has hosted this community wide holiday celebration. These activities are free thanks in large part to the support of generous sponsors. This family friendly event began as a way to welcome home and invite new residents to celebrate this joyous season together.
