Supercharge Your Workforce, Jumpstart Your Career Workshops at Rockwall County Library

Rockwall County Library to offer Apprenticeship Workshops on November 17, 2022. Two workshops, one for employers and one for career-seekers, will highlight apprenticeships and their value in today’s economy. Workshop attendees will receive training resource packets.

ROCKWALL, TX (Nov. 2, 2022) – Join the Rockwall County Library Thursday, November 17 for two workshops that will highlight the value of apprenticeships. Supercharge Your Workforce will be held from 12 to 3 PM and Jumpstart Your Career will be held from 5 to 8 PM. Both workshops will take place in the Rockwall County Library’s large meeting room.

The afternoon presentation is intended for employers and administrators of public, technical, and career schools. Employers and ISDs will hear how partnering with Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas can assist in locating, training, and retaining qualified employees. Speakers, John Kuznar, Apprenticeship Training Representative, U.S. Department of Labor and Te’sha Johnson, Business Development Liaison, Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas will discuss apprenticeships in detail.

The evening presentation is intended for students and job seekers. Speakers John Kuznar and Te’sha Johnson will discuss which companies need candidates and which skills are most in demand. Career seekers will learn how apprenticeships can help them attain their career goals. Information packets will list valuable websites and training resources, e.g. the Learningexpress Library system that individuals can access with a Rockwall County Library card.

Though college and university degrees are one way to achieve career goals, apprenticeships offer a less costly option. Apprenticeships are more cost-effective since students earn as they learn.

Apprenticeships are full-time, quality jobs with benefits. Many apprenticeships offer training opportunities that can take the form of mentorships, classroom instruction, and/or college instruction. Most apprenticeships result in a portable, nationally recognized credential.

Career seekers can find apprenticeships in all industries including clean energy, cybersecurity, health care, financial services, and advanced manufacturing.

Apprenticeships can create a talent pipeline and can be instrumental in stimulating the economy, creating equal opportunities, and addressing employee shortages.

Q & A to follow each presentation.
