Five veterans at Rockwall’s historic Glen Hill Cemetery honored with remembrance wreaths

ROCKWALL, TX (Dec. 19, 2022) This past Saturday, to coincide with the Wreaths Across America remembrance event that took place at Rest Haven Funeral Home and Memorial Park, wreaths were placed upon the graves of five veterans buried at Glen Hill Cemetery in Rockwall. The names of the veterans were read aloud and they were thanked for their service. A final salute was rendered, and Taps was played.

The five wreaths placed were to honor the following veterans buried at Glen Hill Cemetery:

John A. Johnson
July 8, 1909-June 20, 1951
PVT

Elven Moton (spelling is correct)
April 15, 1895-May 23, 1979
PVT, US Army, WWI

Ernest Moton
August 8, 1893-May 1, 1965

Joshua Moton
May 7, 1892-January 9, 1976
PVT, US Army, WWI

George Todd
December 11, 1893-November 19, 1945
PVT, US Army, WWI

Glen Hill Cemetery’s historical marker indicates it was established in 1870.

Taylor Amos, family member of the interred, Rev Jonathan Melton, Mark Russo, and Danny Starnes were in attendance.

Capt Mary Kay States, CAP, Lakeshore Composite Squadron & Wreaths Across America Location Coordinator, verbally thanked each veteran for their service after placing the wreaths.

The mission of Wreaths Across America is to Remember our fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach our children the price of freedom.

Special thanks goes out to Therese Palmer, family liaison, and to the family for allowing the rememberance ceremony to take place in honor of the veterans.
