HEATH, TX (Dec. 1, 2022)—Local congregations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are hosting “Finding Peace in Christ: A Live Nativity” on December 9th and 10th, from 6-9 pm, at 6819 South FM 549 in Heath. The event features a nativity reenactment with live animals, an international crèche display, live music, and refreshments. The come-and-go event is free and open to all.
“The ‘Finding Peace in Christ’ event is all about sharing our love of our Savior Jesus Christ and inviting our friends and neighbors of all faiths to come celebrate His birth with us,” said director Katie Arredondo.
Arredondo outlined three main attractions of the event. First is the Live Nativity, held outdoors. The nativity will feature “a full cast, inspiring musical narration, and live animals.” Two miniature donkeys will be greeting guests as they arrive. The nativity program is 20 minutes long and will run continually all evening.
“Visitors are then invited into the church building to warm up and enjoy cocoa and cookies,” Arredondo continued. “While doing so they can view our ‘Christmas Around the World’ international display of crèche sets, sacred art, and memorabilia from many countries. Children can participate in a Christmas Quest where they can hunt for a certain display item in order to earn a special treat!”
New this year is a display of art from world-renowned artist Jorge Cocco Santángelo. A native of Argentina currently residing in Forney, Santángelo specializes in what he calls Sacrocubism—sacred themes painted in the cubist style. Santángelo’s work has been featured on stamps in the United Kingdom and is also on display at the Museum of Biblical Art in Dallas.
Finally, the event includes a concert of holiday music from local community members. Come and adore Him at this free event as part of your Christmas celebration this year. For more information, please visit the Finding Peace in Christ Facebook page.
