Community Emergency Response Team offers training class for new volunteers

ROCKWALL, TX (Feb. 6, 2023) Want to help your community in times of need?  EastTex Regional CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) is looking for new members who want to make a difference.  CERT is an organization through FEMA to help train and organize communities at the local level to help during disasters. We are sponsored by the Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management, and are an all-volunteer organization that helps local law enforcement, fire, and emergency management when disasters strike, missing person searches, and public event support.  We have over 200 active members and serve Rockwall, Hunt, Kaufman, Collin, and Van Zandt Counties and the Town of Sunnyvale.  We would like to invite you to our next training class on Saturday February 11th and 18th at the Rockwall County Sheriff’s office.

This is a FREE 2 day class that will teach you many preparedness tips to help protect your family as well as the basic skills needed by all ETRC members. If you wish, you can choose to be an active member of our deployment team and be put on our call out list for when we have emergencies. If you’re interested in signing up, visit our website and follow the links on the site. If you have any questions, feel free to call the # on our website.  All volunteers must go through a criminal background check.  Ages 14 and over can take the class, but you must be 18 to join the active callout team.
