Rockwall heroes work together quickly to save a life

ROCKWALL, TX (Feb. 8, 2023) The Rockwall City Council recognized some local first responders with Lifesaving Awards at their regular meeting last night. Thanks to the heroes’ swift teamwork, their patient is on the mend, and here to tell the tale.

First on the scene at the Ralph Hall Airport to help an unresponsive Michael Burke Lebherz, was Rockwall Police Officer Jason Blackwood. He administered chest compressions until members of the Rockwall Fire Department and EMS arrived. Once there, Captain Brad Vallance, Driver Engineer Justin Barker, and Firefighter Bogdan Rusmanica, of the Rockwall Fire Department, along with a crew from Medic Rescue, took over CPR and advanced care efforts. The man was transported to the hospital and was later released. He attended the meeting to show his support of the local heroes.
