ROCKWALL, TX (April 26, 2023) We delight in theater! We would like to delight you, too! We are the Rockwall Community Playhouse (RCP), your local, hometown, non-profit theater located at 609 E. Rusk St. in Rockwall.  We were founded in 1995 and that season performed such classics as Rumors, Godspell, and Arsenic and Old Lace. We continue to perform a wide genre of plays and musicals, but there is so much more! It is our desire (and responsibility) to promote live theater for entertainment, educational and charitable purposes.  We are run entirely by volunteers.

Our upcoming musical is The Wizard of Oz, which runs Friday through Sunday, May 12-28. A classic that is sure to delight audiences of every age. With a cast too numerous to list here, it will be an extravaganza of entertainment. Whether you are young or just young at heart, this show will whisk you away to the wonderland of Oz.

We just wrapped up Gaslight, a chilling play with a duplicitous husband and a fearful wife. The act of “gaslighting” someone began with this classic Victorian thriller.  Ah, but that one is over.  But wait! The rest of the season includes the aforementioned Oz, followed by Descendants, The Musical and ending with The Bishop’s Wife. On the Thursday before opening night, we hold a free performance for seniors and others around the community which we call “pay what you can.” We try to give back!

RCP believes in our community! RCP holds a Children’s Choir each year running from January through the performance in early April. We hold RCP @ RPC, a spring workshop which introduces students to theater basics and show production. Plus, kids of all ages can participate in our summer children’s theater programs.  Little Mermaid will be presented for ages 6 – 12.  The upcoming audition is 10 a.m. May 13. Guys & Dolls is for ages 13 – 19 and is performed late summer.  Our STAR (Special Theater at Rockwall) program is also held annually and is for adults ages 16 and up with Downs’ Syndrome. These talented and energetic folks put on a full production musical!

Find us at events around town, too: Scare on the Square, Founder’s Day, local parades and more.

We also hold fundraisers. On Sunday, May 7, why not visit Joe Willy’s for a yummy burger meal with your friends and family? RCP will be your wait staff and the restaurant will donate a portion of sales to our community theater!
