ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX (July 24, 2023) The Rockwall County Commissioners’ Court unanimously approved a motion made by Commissioner John Stacy, on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, to designate Precinct 2 Commissioner Dana Macalik as the lead agent for Rockwall County to create the “Rockwall County Strategic Plan 2050” with the goal of presenting a final draft to the Court by April 2025 for formal adoption.
Commissioner Macalik outlined a plan overview which includes creating a unified vision, in partnership with cities in the county, school districts and other key stakeholders, to guide the future of Rockwall County. Commissioner Macalik described the strategic plan as one that “will embrace the citizens’ vision and goals for how they want the county to develop and deliver a unified plan to guide governmental decisions.”
Steering committees will focus on the following areas:
- Regional & Community Design
- Land Use & Open Spaces
- Transportation & Mobility
- County Facilities & Services
- Environmental Planning & Sustainability
- Public Safety & Public Health
- Economic Development
- Public Education
- Housing & Infrastructure
- Historical Preservation
Public engagement is encouraged and will include opportunities to participate in workshops, forums, on-line comments, surveys, etc. “The success of our strategic planning depends on our community being engaged and allowing their voices to be heard. Now is the time to focus and develop priorities and strategies that will position our county for success in the future. I encourage everyone’s input,” Commissioner Macalik said.
