Educators prepare for school year with encouraging message

Rockwall, TX (August 9, 2023) – The JER Chilton YMCA’s Annual Teachers Prayer Breakfast kicked off bright and early the morning of July 26. With the purpose to encourage and uplift educators, the Rockwall YMCA board and leadership dedicates this time just for educators as they prepare their minds and hearts for the new year.

Keynote speaker Amy Anderson, Deputy Superintendent of Royse City ISD, recalled how the new year tends to creep up quickly and how many look upon that with anticipation. She added that anticipation may be defined as positive excitement or, on the other hand, dread or nervous expectation.

It is that dread or nervous expectation that leads to a constant barrage of “what ifs”.

Anderson asks that educators turn their minds to approach nervous anticipation with faith, reminding them God is already in their classroom as promised in Colossians 1:17: He is before all things and in Him all things hold together; saying, “He already sees what kind of year we are going to have. And when we hold in our hearts His supremacy and sovereignty, we cannot help but rely on His sufficiency because God assures us ‘My grace is sufficient for you’.”

In addition to the encouraging message, teachers were showered with appreciation from area businesses and individuals in the way of door prizes! Treated to gift certificates, gift packages and memberships to a variety of restaurants, salons, health and fitness organizations, all donated simply to say thank you for the devotion, long hours and hard work they give each day.The school year begins on Tuesday, Aug 8 in Garland ISD; Monday, August 14 in Rockwall ISD; and Tuesday, August 15 in Royse City ISD.
