Rockwall Chamber celebrates local first responders at 8th annual appreciation event

ROCKWALL, TX (Oct. 26, 2023) The Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce partnered with Rockwall Fire Station #2 for its 8th Annual First Responders Appreciation Luncheon on Wednesday afternoon.

The event brought together over 200 business leaders, city and county officials, and first responders for a memorable celebration of the dedication and courage displayed by Rockwall’s finest. Highlights of the event included music by Cain Middle School Orchestra, the National Anthem sung by local elementary student Reese Turley, and a heartfelt welcome from Mayor Trace Johannessen and Rockwall Fire Chief Kenneth Cullins.

The program concluded with an inspiring speech from Brigadier General Joe E. Ramirez, Jr., Vice President for Student Affairs at Texas A&M University. Ramirez delivered a touching testimonial that drew from his 31 years of military service and 11 years as 45th Commandant of Cadets at Texas A&M. Ramirez’s message displayed appreciation and support for those who put their lives on the line every day to keep our community safe. One of the key objectives of the First Responders Appreciation Luncheon is to strengthen connections between local businesses, community members, and first responders. The event successfully achieved this goal by providing a platform for open dialogue and collaboration between these essential groups.

The First Responders Appreciation Luncheon is a time-honored tradition in Rockwall. It is an opportunity for community members and business leaders to come together to express their gratitude and appreciation to the brave men and women who serve as first responders. This year’s event was no exception, and exceeded expectations, with high attendance and a memorable keynote presentation. The Rockwall Chamber of Commerce extends its sincere thanks to its event sponsors, volunteers, and attendees who made this year’s luncheon a remarkable success. Their generosity and commitment to our first responders leaves a lasting impact on the Rockwall community and The Chamber looks forward to continuing this special tradition for years to come.
