ROCKWALL, TX (Oct. 25, 2023) Rockwall ISD is proud to recognize our career and technical education student champions from the Dr. Gene Burton College and Career Academy for their outstanding achievements at the state, national and international level.
Weather permitting, a recognition ceremony will be held on Friday, October 27 at 6:45 p.m. at the Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium. We encourage our community to come out and support our students for their hard work and dedication.
In the 2022-2023 school year, fashion design students made a clean sweep at the national competition, earning first place in three categories. The Blackhawks Robotics team won the Autonomous Award at the World Championship competition. The culinary arts program and barbecue team are state champions. Students in the DECA marketing team earned international
recognition with a Top 10 finalist. These are just a few of the accomplishments our CTE students have earned.
Career and technical education plays a crucial role in preparing students for the workforce. Our career pathways, such as hospitality and tourism, health science, and law and public safety, equip our students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in various industries.
We look forward to celebrating the outstanding achievements of our student champions.
