AUSTIN, TX (Nov. 17, 2023) State Representative Justin Holland (R-Heath) has been appointed by Speaker Dade Phelan to serve as the Chair of the Sunset Advisory Commission.
The Sunset Advisory Commission plays a pivotal role in reviewing state agencies, making recommendations on their continuance or abolition, and proposing legislative changes to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness.
During his tenure in the Texas House, Representative Holland has been a member of several key committees, including State Affairs, Appropriations, Homeland Security & Public Safety, Investments & Financial Services, and Culture, Recreation & Tourism. His office has successfully passed over 50 bills, addressing a wide range of issues from public safety and banking to consumer rights and the opioid crisis, demonstrating a strong commitment to the welfare of all Texans.
Chairman Holland authored and passed House Bill 1500 in 2023, implementing significant reforms in the Texas electricity sector and improving the operations of the Public Utility Commission of Texas and ERCOT.
As he assumes the chairmanship of the Sunset Advisory Commission, Rep. Holland is eager to contribute his expertise and leadership to the critical review process during the 2024-2025 cycle.
