Rockwall ISD’s Williams Middle School PALs Classes Spread Holiday Cheer with First Night Bags Initiative

Rockwall, TX (December 4, 2023) — In the true spirit of giving, the PALs and Teen Leadership classes at Williams Middle School, under the dedicated leadership of Jana Helmer and Shelby Walls, embarked on a heartwarming mission to support children in need this holiday season. The students took on the initiative of collecting funds and shopping for First Night Bags at Wal-Mart, creating a festive and compassionate atmosphere that radiated the joy of the season.Wal-Mart, known for its community involvement, joined hands with Williams Middle School in this noble cause, going the extra mile by adorning the shopping baskets with festive decorations. The collaboration aimed to bring a touch of warmth and comfort to the children who have been removed by Child Protective Services (CPS) or are at risk of removal. The students, guided by their empathy and imagination, carefully selected items that a child might need on their first night after being taken into protective custody. From essential personal items to comforting elements, the bags were curated with the utmost care and consideration. All First Night Bags will be distributed by Qavah the Storehouse, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children in crisis situations. Qavah the Storehouse will work closely with various agencies to ensure that these thoughtful packages reach the hands of children facing challenging circumstances during the holiday season.
