Congressman Pat Fallon speaks at Rockwall Noon Rotary luncheon

Rockwall, TX (January 25, 2024) – Rockwall Noon Rotary was honored to welcome featured speaker, U.S. Representative Pat Fallon of Texas’ 4th congressional district, at their weekly luncheon on Thursday, January 25.

Speaking on several key topics, Representative Fallon began with comments on several differences in the House of Representative under new Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, especially regarding ending costly COVID era mandates. Further adding that the first vote taken under the new Speaker was to repeal funding for 87,000 new IRS agents.

Representative Fallon recalled that he had been asked why he ran for Congress and his response was that he would want to achieve two objectives; to secure the border and to obtain a balanced budget amendment, with those issues dominating his remarks.

Speaking on finances, he stated, “we are a debtor nation, spending more than we take in. Now, to the tune of 34 trillion dollars in debt”. Adding that had we kept the same spending levels of 2019, with our current revenue, we would have a 400-billion-dollar surplus.

The rising levels of Illegal immigration and the strain it places on our nation was also highlighted.

Representative Fallon shared that illegal border encounters have increased, and sanctuary cities have also begun to feel the strain. This issue will cost the U.S. 150-250 billion dollars annually but offers concerns for our safety and security as well, with Mexican drug cartels using surge tactics for their smuggling operations.

Regarding legal immigration, he clarified that legal immigration is beneficial to our economy and should be rewarded but that “illegal immigration should be zero”.

Following questions from the assembled audience, Representative Fallon thanked the organization for their civil engagement and community service.
