Scott Dodson announces candidacy for Heath City Council, Place 5

Rockwall, TX (January 27, 2024) – Scott and his wife Lynae live in Buffalo Creek.  They have six adult children who have all graduated and taken careers throughout the country. Recently The Dodson’s were blessed with their first grandchild who lives in Coppell.

Dodson’s local community involvement has been extensive. He serves as the Vice President of the Heath Economic Development Corporation (HEDC), the Vice President of the Rockwall County Republican Men’s Club, Precinct 3C Chairperson for Rockwall County GOP, Steering Committee member for the Heath, TX Comprehensive Plan, Past Treasurer for the Rockwall County Republican Men’s Club, Past Treasurer for Lonestar CASA and is an active member of Lakepointe Church.

“Heath is an absolute gem of a city, but with our unique attributes and popularity comes the challenges associated with growth, infrastructure and the development of amenities that support the wishes of our citizens and those who are attracted to this area”, said Dodson. Heath is a lakefront – parks community and as such we want to preserve our open spaces and maintain our rural appeal in the midst of other communities that have adopted more of a ‘rooftop’ strategy for growth.

We have a tremendous opportunity to promote responsible growth as long as we can tackle the challenges of securing a sustainable water supply and an effective road system to support the increasing traffic flow through our city.  Police, fire and emergency services are also top priorities for Dodson in providing a world-class and safe environment for the residents, many of whom want to make Heath their forever home.

Dodson is the CEO for a medical device company, Compression Works, Inc. www.compressionworks.com  that has developed a life-saving technology to stop severe bleeding on the battlefield for our military, first responders and emergency medicine departments around the world.  He has spent over 30 years leading blue-chip, mid-cap and venture backed medical device companies to successful growth, acquisitions and initial public offerings in multiple markets around the country and world including Silicon Valley, Boston, McKinney, TX, Australia and Italy. He has also served on the boards of companies who have had to manage growth, change and work together to provide solutions-based approaches to help the companies thrive.

Scott is originally from a small farming community in Evansville, Indiana where he attended Evansville North High School and then pursued a business degree at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana where he played Division 1 Football. Dodson pursued his MBA from Columbia University and post- graduate studies at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

“I have been blessed to have had many opportunities where my experience can be leveraged into working with City Council and I am humbled at the opportunity to serve this great City”, said Dodson.  “I believe that my work and life experiences provide the basis for a good decision-making process which will ultimately benefit the citizens of Heath as we collectively tackle the challenges that we face in order to create the type of city that can be enjoyed for generations”.

TOGETHER WE THRIVE!
