Dr. Shelley Garrett earns School Business Certification

GARLAND ISD, TX (Feb. 19, 2024) The Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) announced Dr. Shelley Garrett, Assistant Superintendent of Safety & Operations at Garland ISD, earned her Registered Texas School Business Administrator (RTSBA) certification.

TASBO certifications are highly respected and often encouraged by school districts as a way to gain real-world knowledge of the intricacies of public schools, such as school law, policy, human resources challenges, fleet management, long-range planning, etc.  The RTSBA certification means a professional school executive is educated in school business beyond college degrees and is dedicated to the profession.

Dr. Garrett said, “I wish I had taken the 90 hours of TASBO coursework before I got my doctorate; it’s an invaluable way to fill the gap between what you learned in school and what the real world holds. The connections I made are the best part, though.”
