AgriLife Extension to host Texas Community Futures Forum at Rockwall Library

ROCKWALL, TX (March 14, 2024) Texas A&M AgriLife Extension has always developed programs based on community needs. Issue identification is the foundation upon which Extension has been able to meet the educational needs of Rockwall County residents. Every five years, Extension hosts the Texas Community Futures Forum. This process utilizes local residents to identify and prioritize relevant issues within the county.  It’s time now to gather and identify those issues with AgriLIfe Extension’s mission in mind: Helping Texans Better their Lives through high-quality, relevant education that encourages lasting and effective change.

Our Rockwall County Forum will take place Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Rockwall County Library Community Room from 6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.  During the forum the participants will be divided into small groups to focus on one of the following areas:

Agriculture

Family and Community Health

Horticulture

Small groups will answer the question: “During the next 3-5 years, what will be the most critical issues that are affecting Rockwall County?”  Answers will focus on their respective area of Agriculture, Family and Community Health, or Horticulture. Upon completion of the small group sessions, the participants will reassemble as a large group to gain insight from small group sessions.  The critical issues will then be presented to the county program area committees to begin program development.  Program area committees are comprised of county residents who want to see our community grow in a positive manner.

You are invited to join the process.  A light meal will be served at the meeting. RSVP’s should be no later than April 1, 2024  by contacting the Rockwall County A&M AgriLife Extension Office at 972.204.7660.  When you RSVP, please indicate your small group preference.
