ROCKWALL, TX (March 13, 2024) – The Rockwall Economic Development Corporation (REDC) welcomes Rockwall residents John Hohenshelt and Taslow Roberts to serve on the Board of Directors for the organization. Hohenshelt was appointed by City Council in January 2023 to fill an unexpired term of a departing Board member. Hohenshelt was then reappointed to the position by City Council in December 2023. Roberts was appointed in February 2024 replacing Matthew Neyland whose term expired in December 2023.
Hohenshelt has been a resident of Rockwall since 1998. He has been involved in public service in Rockwall for over 20 years. Hohenshelt was appointed to Rockwall City Council, Place 2, in December 2014, but before that, he also served on the REDC Board of Directors for seven years, including one year as Chairman. During his appointment to City Council, he also served as City Council Liaison to the REDC. Additionally, Hohenshelt has served on the Rockwall County Central Appraisal District Board for five years, where he is currently Chairman. Hohenshelt attended Tulane University where he earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree before graduating from Tulane University Law School. He is a Veteran of the United States Army and the owner of Taiga Coolers, LLC in Mesquite. He enjoys serving his community and spending time with his wife Kellie and their two children.
Roberts was born and raised in neighboring Mesquite and Forney, Texas. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University in 2008. After spending about seven years in Houston working for various oil and gas companies, he moved back to the area and took up residence in Rockwall in 2015. Roberts is currently employed with Baylor Scott & White Health as a Senior Director of Sourcing and Contracting. Roberts and his wife Erica have two girls, Avery and Madilyn, who attend Rockwall schools and are very active in various youth activities across the city.
