Board of Trustees Recognitions
The Board of Trustees recognized and congratulated the Communications Department for the following accomplishments:

• Each year, the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA), comprised of 900 members, recognizes school communicators and departments for outstanding print and electronic media work. This year, more than 1,700 entries competed in the contest.
Independent, private-sector judges evaluate and score each entry based on its merit. Rockwall ISD Communications Department won three Gold Star Awards, two Silver Star Awards and one Bronze Award.

Board Approves Superintendent Contract
The Board approved the superintendent’s contract.

2024 Facilities Bond Committee Update
Committee facilitators provided an update on the committee’s work and progress. As of the Board meeting date, the committee has met three times. District administrators have presented information regarding the State of the District, 2021 Bond Projects, Demographic Reports, School Finance 101 and an overview of facility needs. The committee members now work in small groups focusing on projects like new construction, capital needs, safety/transportation/technology and Fine Arts/athletics/CTE.

Approval of Electric Provider Agreement with a New Energy Provider
The current energy price for the District through TXU is $0.04139 per kilowatt hour, which is set to expire on May 31, 2024. However, with anticipated increased electrical costs for the next contract estimated at an additional $1 million, these expenses will be funded by the Maintenance & Operations budget.

The Board of Trustees approved the District administration to negotiate and agree to an energy services agreement with the District energy provider. The District is executing a 12-month agreement as a mild winter, grid stabilization/winterization and increasing natural gas supplies are expected to reduce pricing going into 2025. Energy prices fluctuate daily and the most current pricing for the proposals under consideration are:
