Royse City police investigate motorcycle fatality involving 17-year-old

ROYSE CITY, TX (March 5, 2024)  On Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 5:47 p.m., the Royse City Police Department was dispatched to a major accident on Eastbound IH30. It was reported that a single motorcycle collided with a barrier at the exit to FM2642. The rider of the motorcycle was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The deceased was identified as Charlie James Brumit, a 17-year-old male from Joshua, TX. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing. It appears that the accident occurred when a large group of motorcycles traveling together on Eastbound IH30 were taking the exit to FM2642 and Charlie Brumit’s motorcycle struck a barrier, and he was ejected.

The Royse City Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding the accident including video footage of the accident or just prior to the accident to contact the Royse City Police Department at 972-636-9422. There is no further information at this time.
